Using immense creativity to create in-character responses, RogueMudblood
made playing the game even more fun for us. We appreciated the stories and interesting responses, as they helped us see that RogueMudblood
appreciated the time and energy we put into creating our games. The fact that people like RogueMudblood
cared enough to really put creativity and heart into her responses made the game really fun. RogueMudblood
's dedication to the contest really set the bar high for other participants.
Here is an example of an answer from RogueMudblood
"I stare at the mistress of the house and can't help but wonder how much further I have to go. She seems far more solid than some of the other apparitions, and I consider the possibility that she's actually one of the demonic monsters I've already encountered – or a new one entirely and simply wearing a disguise. Even so, if solving the conundrum she has set for me is all it takes in order to be able to leave this place... But then, she didn't say she'll let me leave yet. Only that she'll help me on my way, which isn't promising, considering all of the people I've been sent to in this place.
As I move the pieces of the puzzle around the board, turning a couple of them in different directions to make them fit, I can't help but wonder about the cat from earlier in the night, and the beer man with the temporal fluxes. Of all the beings in the house thus far, they've been the most normal. It doesn't take long for my hands to move the pieces into place, my mind moving them on the spatial plane far more easily when I'm not concentrating on them directly. I wonder about the two keys that seem to be stuck inside the black mass of two of the pieces - will she make me choose between them? And if so, does one lead to "certain death"?
When the last one falls into place, I turn to look at the mistress of the house, her hands covering her upper arms as they cross over her chest. With the stare she gives me, I can't help but wonder if she's been reading my mind this whole time...."
Thank you all, and congratulations to the winners!!
A special thank-you, too, to all who helped this year.
You are loved and appreciated.
